Cosplay is a whole lot of fun. People from entirely different backgrounds and social statuses can get together and become equals who fully understand each other…just because they’re dressed as characters from a show, or game, or comic. That’s magical.
Of course, just like Halloween, there’s always a good three percent of cosplay people at each event that aren’t really there to celebrate their character, or their own ingenuity or creativity. There’s always a couple people who basically wanted to become a jerk-off fantasy.
There’s no shame in it. If you wanna show off what fate gave ya, that’s cool. Just don’t expect to be treated too well by the lower denizens. It is true that just because you show some skin, that does not make you a hooker. But if you dress like a hooker you must expect some misunderstandings. Even if your hooker costume is comic-book themed.
And I really do feel bad for the really serious folks who slave over a very authentic costume for weeks only to be upstaged by the naked chick who painted her tits green and cheekily called herself “She-Hulk’s slutty sister.”
